Sexy clothes at work, pros and cons

Sexy clothes attract an attention. Aren't they made for this? If you walk in your workplace in miniskirt and bold décolleté blouse, you will definitely be in the center of attention. Most of people like to hear compliments and revealing cleavage can surely bring you praises but sometimes you can put yourself in ambiguous position by dressing up provocatively. However you should know your rights: no matter how you dress, it's not a reason for sexual harassment. It's important to take care of your appearance, especially if you need to communicate with customers a lot. While you are at work, you should represent the ideas of your working place, not your own standpoint.

However we are not machines and we want to be individual. No company forbids sexual clothes as long as your appearance doesn't disturb your co-workers and customers. You can express your sexuality without wearing provocative clothing. Subtle accessories and outfit that highlights advantages of your figure can gain you more compliments than unfastened shirt or spike heels. As long as you keep you style balanced between too much and too boring, you will be successful.

Of course you shouldn't be judged by you dress style, but it's not how it works in the real world. According to several surveys, if people don't dress properly for job, others assume that they don't take their responsibilities seriously. These results might be a little overstated, but there is other common opinion among office workers. If one dresses too provocatively, it can be a sign that he or she is looking for someone to date. And this behavior is often considered improper for business environment. Even though a girl or boy who dresses and acts sexy is often considered to be promoted easily, the real life shows that it's the other way around. If you don't look like you are professional, people won't take you as a professional. You might be the most beautiful person...

Clothing for women as an alternative to wedding gowns

http://blog.grimpuppy.com/uploaded_images/hottest_wedding_dress_ever-739272.jpg
Forget about the traditional conventions of sinuous spectacular gowns if you want to look different and not go bankrupt! After all you are the bride not the wedding gown, a wedding gown will not necessarily make you look beautiful just because it is flowing and luxurious.

If you do prefer a dressier outfit for your wedding, you may opt for prom dresses, which are definitely cheaper than actual wedding dresses, but can come in different flowing styles in satin and white netting; you may choose amongst different colors including white. Make sure you purchase the prom dress in department stores or those, which specialize in junior clothing, for you, may end up spending nearly as much as you would on a wedding dress. You may also try looking for formal wear similar to prom dresses in stores during the fall season as schools get ready for formal homecoming dances; during this period stores also stock dresses for holiday parties. Even better, wait for this period to pass and take advantage of the special offers during the clearance sales.

The classic suits are also a good solution, especially for second time marriages, and why not your first time round? Suits will give you a refined look whether you choose a pant or skirt suit. Select a style that will give you an extra feminine look, choose paler colors if they suit you, for a more delicate appearance, and try wearing an elegant hat, this will also make the difference and will enhance the overall look.

Another good idea is to organize a themed wedding. This will be more original and fun and the dress will definitely be less expensive as opposed to the traditional wedding gown. A popular theme is the medieval or Renaissance setting, but you may choose others. On this occasion you can simply rent your outfit, which really is the best idea, for you will only be wearing it once anyway. Set off for a local theatre or costume shop and choose amongst the many different styles and periods for the clothing that will flatter your figure.
http://img.alibaba.com/photo/11540766/Wedding_Gown.jpg
If you prefer a more casual look you may opt for a theme such as a beach/luau wedding. Organize your wedding on the beach; this will render the even more creative and unique. If you choose this solution you may wear a stylish swimsuit with a sarong to drape over it.
Other options are mother of the bride dresses, these are ideal for more mature women and they are available in more discreet styles or even flamboyant ones, this depends how you want to look that day.

Finally, whatever you choose, make sure you feel at ease confident and special for that day, for all brides look radiant whether they are overdressed or just plain elegant

2008-2009 winter hottest fashion trends

2008-2009 winter hottest fashion trends

What to wear this winter? The bright primary colors of the last year are gone, but this doesn't mean that 2008/2009 winter is going to be dull and boring. The hottest looks of winter demand colorful choices, architectural clothing shapes and bold combination of different pieces. Tomato reds, teal greens, indigo blues, subtle tones of apricot and honey and rich tones of aubergine purple are going to compete with come back of the grays.

Think bold when choosing clothing for winter 2008-2009, especially if you're looking for a coat. The shape of clothing should make a statement. Fashion designers offer pyramid shaped coats, emphasized hour-glass shaped coats and dresses, clothing with emphasized shoulders line, tulip shaped skirts and carrot top pants. Shapes like those are very expressive, so the garments are mono-colored or indistinctly ornamented and contain as less decorative details as possible. If trendy shapes are too daring for you, go for compromise: variations of large collars. Knitted or furry, modern or vintage style - collar must be big and make a contrast to either texture or fabric or color of the clothing. Collars are not for coats only; they adorn jackets, vests and cardigans too.

This winter is the right time to become romantic biker. Glossy leather clothing, biker jacket and shiny zippers are the must-haves. But this image is neither heavy nor aggressive; leather clothing is combined with fur, knitwear, see-through fabrics and puffy playful skirts.

Grey used to be the new black on the last winter. This color is very gratifying as it goes well with all the other tones and makes a nice background for bright colors. However, the shades of dark slate grey said good bye a year ago and softer silverfish tones appear to accompany large variety of rose quartz, pale taupe, lavender, lemon chiffon and other beiges. The creamy tones work well all together, but they also compliment rich colors that are trendy 2008-2009 winter.

There's no dress versus skirt discussion for fashion trends of winter 2008/2009. Skirts hadn't disappeared, but fashion designers presented lots of dresses for feminine, femme fatale, prom style or folkloric looks. Favorite patterns for dresses are arabesque and geometric prints. However, the hottest trend is accentuating fabric or texture or shape of a dress instead of accentuating prints. Winter 2008-2009 brings large assortment of dresses: fancy prom dress to com...

Top Ten Weirdest Dresses

Top Ten Weirdest Dresses

The Oddee website creates top-ten lists featuring topics ranging from the world's strangest bugs to the most bizarre bodily functions. (The site is easy to get lost in and can become quite the procrastinator's best friend, so don't say I didn't warn you.)

Recently Oddee created another list of what they consider the top-ten weirdest dresses. This was actually a follow-up to their previous list of top-eleven weirdest dresses here.

These dresses prove that inspiration can spark anywhere from the kitchen to the woodshop. Here are a few highlights from their round-up:

Memory of Beijing-Suitdress by Li Xiaofeng

For more of Li Xiaofeng's work, click here. The dress is made entirely from Blue and White Porcelain from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The pieces are sewn together using silver thread.

The Bubelle Dress by Philips

Just like the mood rings we all had as kids, the Bubelle Dress changes colors with your mood. The dress is made up of two layers: the inner layer contains biometric sensors that pick up a person's emotions and projects them in colors onto the second layer.

The Bubelle dress was was designed by Philips and works by monitoring physical changes associated with different feelings. Emotions like stress, arousal, or fear affect the body's temperature and sweat levels and these generate the light that changes the pattern and color on the dress.

To see the dress in action, check out these videos here and here.

The Video Dress by Hussein Chalayan

Video may have killed the radio star, but it appears to still be friends with the fashion world.

Innovative fashion designer Hussein Chalayan created these dresses that have an interlining of sorts housing 15,000 LED lights that portray videos. The videos used on the dresses were a time lapse of a rose opening and closing, in a spectacular display of color and light.

The dress made its debut at the Milan Design Fair and is now on display at the 10 Corso Como gallery in Milan, Italy.

To see the dress in all its glory, check out these videos here and here.

The Tax Form Dress by Britt Savage

Tax Form Dress

While most tax protestors this year were attending "tea parties," Britt Savage decided to make her feelings known in a different way--she cut up her tax forms, wove them together, and created a wearable work of art. The project started as a dress to wear on stage with her band and took her about a month to complete.

The Phonebook Dress by Jolis Paons

This amazing dress was created by Jolis Paons using paper from phonebooks for Creative Process. Jolis doesn't know how to sew, but loves fashion so she makes her creations in a different way. For her blog post on the dress, click here. She also made a dress using sticks and tulle that you can check out here.

Kasey McMahon built this dress with wire and many other out-of-the-ordinary materials. For more on the dress, visit her website here. Kasy also made a how-to tutorial on making the dress that you can find on Instructables here.

The Wooden Dress by Grace Johnston

WoodenDress

This dress was made by Grace Johnston in Louisiana for the Uncommon Threads Wearable Art Fashion Show in Baton Rouge (and she won!) From the artist:

"The entire corset is made of laminated wood, and the skirt is made of bent wood. It's held together with bolts, etc. and I made an under dress out of pantyhose.
The entire premise of this dress is that it can curtsy. All you do is pull on the rings on either side of the corset (you can vaguely see them) and the cables make the skirt rise up."

Wedding Dresses - Elegant And Traditional

Wedding Dress 14Wedding dresses stem back to the very roots of modern traditional Christian weddings. On account of this, selecting medieval wedding dresses for the bride and bridesmaids can be the perfect solution for those searching for a way to be different without sacrificing any of the traditions that you desire in your wedding. By investing in these elegant wedding dresses, you will find that they are comparatively inexpensive wedding dresses that do not make sacrifices to the over all beauty of the gown.

Selecting medieval wedding dresses is a slightly different process than purchasing a wedding gown from a bridal parlor. As many bridal parlors do not carry this style of dress, you will have to go to a medieval shop to locate the style that you are looking for. If these shops do not have them, then you will have to go for the more expensive option and have them hand tailored for your needs.

If you can find medieval wedding dresses that serve your needs, however, you will be able to have a classy, traditional wedding without the restraints of modern styles and appearances. While there is a little extra work involved, this solution can provide a memorable day for everyone participating in and going to the wedding.

A New Collection From Victoria Beckham

A New Collection From Victoria Beckham

With so many people raging over the fact that celebrities have gone too far with designing, there are still some that are out to show off their skills. Victoria Beckham has recently debuted her newest collection of upscale dresses and we all want to know what the collection looks like, right? Well, it’s not that easy with Victoria Beckham; you must have an appointment to see her full collection of dresses. That’s very posh of her!

beckham1beckham2

“This is a very personal collection for me. I’ve always been drawn to intricate, seam-detailed designs as their structure enhances the flattering shape of a woman’s silhouette. My signature dress collection is timeless, a modern interpretation of my inspirations.”

So what else do we want to know about her collection besides the designs? The price, of course. Reports have stated that the dresses are priced from $600-$1400, and others have reported that it even goes up to $3,500. What?! And I thought Lindsay Lohan’s leggings were expensive. I really don’t think a celebrity, even as glamorous as she is, can pull off a price range like that. It just not reasonable to me. Catherine Malandrino doesn’t even charge that much and I think it’s silly of Victoria Beckham to try to go up against true designers.

As I’ve written before in my posts, I think celebrities should stay out of designing because when they do step into the fashion world, talented designers lose the spotlight they deserve. Victoria Beckham is a beautiful and talented person with many skills; I just think she should stick to singing and be the one that models clothes instead of designing them.

The Rules: Cocktail

The Rules: Cocktail

It's sophisticated, chic and almost unfairly glamorous. Get a cocktail dress right - with a touch of sparkle and kitten heels - and you'll own the party. By Lara Zamiatin.

Hemmed in

At the risk of parroting old-school style gurus such as June Dally-Watkins (circa 1955), The Rules is determined to make one thing patently clear: cocktail dresses must hit just below the knee. While the advice sounds a bit dictatorial, it makes sense. Maxis are for dressed-up luncheon attire and funky minis for late-night partying, but a demure knee-length frock is perfect dusk material. Not too revealing and on the sexy side of prim, knee-length dresses combine elegance with playfulness.

Body talk

The beauty of cocktail dresses is the myriad silhouettes available. If you want to show off your decolletage, opt for a strapless or wide-shouldered gown, or one with spaghetti straps. New label Sass for Dotti has a fantastic selection of flouncy, tiered, ruffled and printed strapless frocks for under $120. Citi has fab spaghetti-strap gowns for $375. Visually enhance a petite bust with a halter-neck frock. Barbarella Vintage Boutique, in Sydney's Newtown, (02) 9557 6134, has floral ones for about $260.

Retro-inspired frocks

If you are generously endowed, play it up with a 1950s-style gown that is slightly low cut, fits tight at the bust and has a full skirt. Cue has glorious bronze taffeta frocks with voluminous skirts for under $300. Or go '60s, when it was de rigueur

for women to don empire-line ribbon-lace gowns. An empire line has the added bonus of elongating short pins. Numerous brands have empire-line dresses up for grabs, including Alannah Hill, who has a wonderful textured cotton dress with a high waist and big bow on the front ($429).

Bling it on

While The Rules advocates demure dress lengths for just-after-five attire, there's no reason why you can't indulge in a bit of bling. For decades, sparkly gowns have reigned as the cocktail wear of choice. A smidgen of sparkle adds radiance to all complexions. If you're feeling flush, Thurley has gorgeous shifts with generous dollops of sequins (about $780), while Portmans has sequin-encrusted satin frocks for $170. If your dress is plain, protect yourself against the early-evening chill with a glittering cardigan. Simple button-down, collarless sequinned cardigans were churned out en masse in Hong Kong in the 1960s, while today Saba has dinky sequinned caplets.

Footwear

In the 1950s, when Christian Dior was perched upon the high-end fashion throne, the Frenchman often expressed his disgust at towering heels. "Vulgar," he deemed them. Perilously high heels have dominated the footwear scene for several seasons and show no signs of vanishing. The Rules, however, agrees with Dior - for cocktail wear at least. Peep-toe sandals and kitten heels are modest but coquettish. Midas, Miss Sixty, Sportscraft and Witchery have an array of colourful slingbacks, peep-toes, strappy sandals and fabric shoes at sensible heights for $250 and under.

Bags

The only essential baggage you need at a cocktail party is your mobile, lipstick and house keys. Opt for petite handbags and clutches. The craze is for Glomesh clutches, which are descendents of the shiny purses beloved of 1970s disco queens at Studio 54. Lili has oversized striped ones for $60, while Oroton has zip-top clutches from $195.

Must-haves

Shape-maker underwear that enhances curves and flattens bulges. Sexy seamed tights add drama to cocktail frocks.
